Christian Service Mission is a not-for-profit, non-denominational,
faith based service organization incorporated in Jefferson County,
Alabama in 1970. We are organized under Section 501(c)(3) of
the Internal Revenue Service Code and tax-exempt under federal
law and §40-23-5 of the Code of Alabama.
For almost 4 decades this ministry has followed the teachings
and commandments of Jesus Christ. We serve Jefferson County
and the surrounding metropolitan areas with programs designed
to assist the needy and the poor and to end the hunger and starvation
that is often unnoticed, unfound, and unseen in the midst of
widespread economic prosperity. When disasters strike or emergencies
arise we assist the poor and the uninsured with donations of
household goods, clothing, and other common essentials needed
for basic human survival through our Good Samaritan Benevolence
Program.
We support the good work efforts of a multitude of other charitable
organizations within the community with missions to minister
to those in need. Each year we provide, at no cost, thousands
of pounds of food to local organizations who prepare meals and
feed the needy and homeless on a daily basis.
We have a history of providing shelter and Christian care for
homeless women and temporary shelter for battered and abused
women with children. We established the Bethany
Home and the Hannah
Home years ago to address these needs in the
community.
Christian Service Mission is funded from public donations of
cash, clothing, household goods, appliances, food, and many
other usable items. Donated items are used in two ways. Needed
items are donated directly to clients who apply for assistance.
Donated food goes directly to individuals or to other ministries
and shelters in the community.
